Presidents of the Philippines:
What your history teacher didn’t tell you.
Probably our government and the media will tell us that we have 15 Philippine presidents so far, Emilio Aguinaldo being the first. But if we’re going to ask the historians, we have 16, and that’s Andres Bonifacio as the first.
Bonifacio is considered by some Filipino historians to be the de facto first president of the Philippines. He is a founder of the Katipunan and is recognized as the father of the Philippine Revolution. With just a knife as his weapon, he fought for the country against the Spanish colonial rule.
This artwork is just a simple representation of the presidents the way I (or we) see them :)
